Firearm Insurance, Do You Have Enough???

Or should that be, do you have any? I recently reviewed my homeowners insurance policy, and found out I have $2000 for theft only!!! If my guns are burned up in a fire, I am out of luck. A little more investigating, and I found out that the vast majority of homeowners insurance does not cover firearms, or if they do, it is for $1000-$2000 and for theft only.
I talked to a few of my friends and relatives, and as I did, were unaware of this lack of coverage.

What to do? I talked to my agent, and unfortunatly, my carrier will not list firearms as special seperate items. Keep in mind, osme carriers will allow you to list firearms seperatly, adding additional cost to your premium. In my situation, my agent suggested the NRA, which you can purchase insurance threw. I talked with a local firearms dealer, and they also suggested the NRA, and are well aware of the limitations in homeowners insurance. Since I am overall satisfied with my carrier, I chose not to change carriers. A second option is to locate a carrier that specializes in firearm insurance. This is where you can list each firearm seperate, and have a policy for the value of the firearms.

What ever you do, first look to see what coverage you have, and then decide for yourself, what you want to do!!!
